Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic believes new signing Eric Bailly can follow in his footsteps and become an Old Trafford star.
Bailly, a £30million summer arrival from Villarreal, has impressed in his time with Jose Mourinho's side so far, earning comparisons with Vidic following his easy adaptation to life in the Premier League.
Vidic, who won the title and the Champions League in his time with United, has been impressed by how quickly Bailly has hit the ground running.
'He is a very good player. If he keeps going as he is, he will definitely have a great career at United,' Vidic told the club's United Review magazine.
'He’s strong and composed with the ball. He’s a very confident player. He has a bit of everything. What I have seen in the first few matches is that we have a great player for the future and a player I would say we needed.
'He reads the game well. He already looks a big signing for us. Of the signings we’ve had this year, I think he’s the one that has surprised everyone the most.'
While Bailly might have stood out, United's results have been mixed in recent weeks.
After defeats by rivals Manchester City, Feyenoord and Watford, Mourinho's side returned to winning ways with a 4-1 thrashing of champions Leicester.
At 22, Ivorian centre-half Bailly is one of a number of young players in Mourinho's squad with Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and £100m man Paul Pogba all bringing youthful exuberance to United's side.
On Bailly, Vidic added: 'The most important thing for a player of his age is to keep his feet on the ground. If he continues to play like he does and stays focused, he can be here for many years and help the team be successful.'
